The USO (United Service Organizations) adapts to meet the ever-changing needs of our troops, especially those who need us most: troops who are deployed and their families at home, our wounded warriors and their families, and families of the fallen. We are a nonprofit, non-partisan, non-political organization, relying on the generosity of the American people to support our programs and services. The USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families.
More than 150 USO centers exist around the world to provide a home away from home for our troops. In addition, we take our special brand of “home” to troops serving far from home by delivering USO programs and services to remote locations. Whether helping a soldier with a connecting flight, distributing care packages, providing information, or welcoming troops home from deployment, volunteers are vital to the success of the USO’s mission. Clearly, the USO is powered by passion. And the USO continues its legendary entertainment tours with hundreds of performances by leading celebrities to thousands of troops all over the world. Financially, we are powered by donations. One of the great misconceptions is the assumption that the USO is part of the government; it is not. The USO depends on the generosity of the American people.
