Few things in life are more frightening than loss of independence and mobility. When you begin to lose your vision or mobility, the things you took for granted can become difficult or impossible to do, and you must find new ways to adapt. The Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind helps people who are blind, visually impaired, or who have other special needs regain their independence and mobility by providing guide dogs and service dogs. What makes their programs so vital for people with disabilities is that in less than 30 days, a person’s life can be changed forever. Guide and service dogs help people with disabilities move about safely and confidently, enabling them to reclaim the independence they had lost.

The Guide Dog Foundation has an extraordinary group of volunteer puppy raisers nationwide who provide the love, attention, and guidance that will help a puppy grow confidence, a necessary quality for a successful guide or service dog. The Wisteria staff is proud to support the Dallas-area puppy raisers and their current puppies-in-training and proud to play a part in the efforts of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind to give the gift of second sight. Thanks to generous contributions from caring donors, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind is able to provide dogs, training, and a lifetime of aftercare free of charge to its consumers.
